With so much uncertainty each day affecting the disability community, the lives of individuals and families are significantly impacted. From the recent executive orders aimed at dismantling the U.S. Department of Education, to attacks on Section 504, and proposed Medicaid cuts, these actions may cause feelings of fear and instability. Now is not the time to remain silent. We must unite and take action to advocate for our rights and the rights of our loved ones. Contact your Senators and Representatives to emphasize protecting the rights of people with disabilities, share your personal stories, and explain how the lack of funding and services will impact your life or that of a family member or friend. The DIRECT team is committed to supporting individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals and advocating for disability rights and justice. Together, as a community, we must stand strong – Nothing About Us, Without Us.
